"Search engine optimization" sounds like something which should make it easier for people to find what they're looking for when running searches, only it isn't. It's something which helps peddlers get $$$.
Idiots with avatars which show them pointing a gun at the viewer get an automatic thumb-down and block from me. I'm from Detroit, and we take gun-pointing very seriously indeed.
I have a 56k dial-up modem. Large images take a long time to load, and 2min videos take an hour! Do not send them, please! I'm so sick of it, I may start deleting friends who blow this off - it makes everything slow down so much it's absurd.
Some sites on SU are miscategorized. This happens when people don't bother or when they select the wrong category for their "discoveries." There are people who deliberately miscat sites, but they are unworthy of discussion.
There is no reason to thumb down a site and write a snotty review just because it's miscat - you'll look more than a bit Steve when the site is later recat and your review is still bitchy. Just recat it instead - you don't have to hit either thumb button and there's no need for a review - it's far easier.
When "discoveries" are properly categorized it means Gentle Stumblers will easily find sites which interest them, which is SU's raison d'ętre.
Why do people write glowing reviews of sites and Stumblers (even adding them to their friends list) without giving them a thumbs up? Why do some of my friends thank me profusely for sites I send them but never give 'em the thumbs up?
